| 2009 is going to be a year to remember !! The worldwide financial turmoil got us all worried and all of us will be affected in one way or the other. But South Africa is still booming. We see interesting new projects popping up, lots of exciting work on the horizon.
Next month we will be visiting Euroluce 2009 in Milano (Italy), where our suppliers will certainly surprise us with stunning new designs. We will of course keep you updated.
On the downsite, we still see lots of copies being used in the market. I personally can’t understand why so-called respected lighting companies (we all know who they are) want to sell these copies and why some architects, interior designers and lighting designers even specify these. As we all know, copiers are thieves and copies are theft. I’m convinced that any architect or designer will not like it if someone stole their idea or design. Copies are a waste of money (something to think about these days), the quality and finishing is always inferior and will in the end leave you with a unhappy and unsatisfied client.
Let us in 2009 celebrate South African and International design, focus on what’s new, inventive, fascinating and inspiring and concentrate on the growing appreciation for original design. Marc Machtelinckx, C.E.O |

| Ingo Maurer The fascination of banal things, ordinary objects you see and use everyday, so well known you don't even notice them anymore. Their transformation takes them out of their context, evolking illusions, exploring their possibilities as light reflectors. This is the leitmotiv of TU-BE. Here is a collaborative effort between two of our favorite designers: Ingo Maurer and Ron Arad. Whimsical and functional, the fixture consists of 35 aluminium tubes which reflect light produced by halogen and LED sources. materials: steel, plastic. 230/125/12 volts. 2 x 50 watts halogen, socket GY 6,35, and 4 LEDs, 4 x 1 watts in blue and white (included). |
